Collagen is a major insoluble fibrous protein in the extracellular matrix. Collagen Type 1 being the most abundant in the human body. It is a heterotrimer consisting of three coiled subunits; two alpha1(I) chains and one alpha2(I) chain arranged in a right handed triple helix confirmation.

Horse Collagen Type 1 has > 95% sequence homology to Human Collagen Type 1.
